Michal Kiievis: Estonia supports Ukraine with 11 million euros in military aid
Estonia has pledged 11 million euros to support Ukraine's air defense and ammunition acquisition during a visit by Northern and Baltic leaders to Kyiv.
During a visit by Northern and Baltic leaders to Kyiv, Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal announced that Estonia will provide Ukraine with 11 million euros for air defense systems and ammunition, funded through NATO's PURL initiative. This announcement coincided with the fourth anniversary of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, highlighting Estonia's ongoing commitment to support its neighbor amidst the ongoing conflict.
Michal emphasized that supporting Ukraine is a central theme of Estonia's presidency of the NB8 (Northern Baltic Eight), which includes both Nordic and Baltic nations. Together, these countries form a significant coalition that has collectively contributed over 42 billion euros to Ukraine's defense efforts. The Estonian government recently approved this funding to ensure that Ukraine can enhance its military capabilities against ongoing Russian attacks.
The visit also included inspections of infrastructure damaged by Russian assaults, underlining the severity of the impact the conflict has had on Ukraine. Michal reiterated Estonia's long-term support, stressing that Ukraine can rely on the coalition of Northern and Baltic states to achieve a fair and lasting peace, solidifying the region's united stance against Russian aggression.
