'10 steps ahead' β Fedorov outlines Ukraine's plan to force Russia to make peace
Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has presented a plan aimed at compelling Russia to seek peace, fortifying Ukraine's defensive measures and increasing economic pressure on Moscow.
On the fourth anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov detailed a comprehensive strategy during a closed-door briefing intended to force Russia into negotiations for peace. The plan includes strengthening Ukraine's air defenses, preventing continued Russian territorial advances, and applying additional economic pressures on the Kremlin. Fedorov articulated that the ultimate goal is to make it untenable for Russia to continue the war by escalating the financial, military, and technological costs.
Fedorov stressed the urgency of peace among the populace, quoting that "every day, every Ukrainian thinks about one thing β when the war will end." This emphasis reflects a sentiment prevalent throughout Ukraine, where suffering from ongoing conflict incites a profound desire for resolution. As part of this strategy, President Volodymyr Zelensky has instructed the Defense Ministry to enhance overall military capabilities, making it increasingly difficult for Russian forces to sustain their aggression.
The remarks come as Ukraine engages in ongoing strategic discussions about the war's future and potential pathways to peace. Fedorov noted that Russiaβs persistence in combat stems from its belief in achieving victory through sheer force and resource allocation. As such, the Ukrainian wartime approach intends to alter this perception, emphasizing that the costs of warfare will outweigh the benefits for Russia, thereby incentivizing a move towards a peaceful settlement.
