The New Ukrainian Defense Minister Presented a Plan: It Would Force Russia to Make Peace
Ukrainian Defense Minister M. Fedorov outlined a three-pronged defense strategy aimed at enhancing Ukraine's military capabilities and compelling Russia to negotiate peace, coinciding with the fourth anniversary of the large-scale invasion.
On the fourth anniversary of the large-scale invasion, Ukrainian Defense Minister M. Fedorov articulated a comprehensive military strategy designed to strengthen Ukraine's defense while simultaneously bolstering diplomatic efforts to compel Russia towards negotiating peace. President Volodymyr Zelensky has set clear objectives for the Defense Ministry team, emphasizing the need for both practical defense improvements and effective diplomacy as critical components of Ukraine's ongoing conflict with Russia.
Fedorov outlined three specific goals within this military plan. The first goal involves 'closing the skies' by implementing a multi-layered air defense system capable of identifying 100% of aerial threats in real time and intercepting at least 95% of missiles and drones aimed at Ukraine. This development is viewed as essential in protecting Ukrainian airspace amidst ongoing attacks.
The second goal focuses on halting enemy advances on land, at sea, and in cyberspace, with a specific benchmark set at neutralizing over 200 invading forces per square kilometer. Fedorov highlighted that achieving such a loss rate for the occupying forces would effectively render progress on the battlefield impossible for Russia. The Defense Ministry is developing a targeted list of solutions and projects to enhance military capacity, which reflects a strategic shift in Ukraine's approach to defending its sovereignty and maintaining stability in the region.
