Indian Railways announces special trains for Holi to ease passenger crowding during the festival.
As the festival of Holi approaches, Indian Railways has announced the operation of special trains to accommodate the increased rush of passengers. Dating back to previous years, the high demand for confirmed tickets during this festive period typically results in challenges for travelers. To mitigate this inconvenience and enhance accessibility, Indian Railways is rolling out hundreds of additional special trains across various states. These services will particularly focus on routes connecting major cities like Mumbai, Pune, and Delhi to states such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand.
According to Central Railway, a total of 186 special trains have been scheduled, out of which 94 are specifically labeled as Holi special. The remaining 92 comprise other special services. The trains will mainly connect key locations like Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai to cities including Nagpur, Varanasi (Banaras), Gorakhpur, Samastipur, Danapur, and Sultanpur. They are expected to operate from the end of February through the middle of March, accommodating the significant number of travelers expected during this period.
In addition to announcing the train services, the detailed listings of these special trains have been shared, providing prospective passengers with essential information to plan their travel accordingly. The initiative aims to ensure that those wishing to celebrate Holi with family and friends are not deterred by travel uncertainties, thereby fostering a more enjoyable festive spirit across the country.
