The Indian Railways is set to operate special trains for the Holi festival, offering additional service to accommodate increased passenger demand, particularly from regions like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Bengal, and Rajasthan.
In anticipation of the increased passenger traffic during the Holi festival, the Indian Railways has announced that it will be running several special trains to ease the journey for travelers. This initiative is specifically aimed at catering to the passengers from states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Bengal, and Rajasthan, where the demand for train services typically spikes during this festive period. The railways have also released a list along with the timetable for these special services which ensures that passengers can secure confirmed tickets with more ease than usual.
The Chief Public Relations Officer of the East Central Railway, Saraswati Chandra, mentioned that the decision to run special trains is a response to the expected surge in travelers heading home or to celebration locations during Holi. Among the scheduled services is a special train that will run between Kolkata and Lal Kuan via Samastipur, providing direct access and convenience for many holiday-goers. The announcement also underlines the railways' efforts to manage the capacity and ensure a smoother travel experience during what is traditionally a busy travel season.
The specifics of these arrangements highlight the railways’ commitment to improving passenger convenience, especially during festive periods when travel demands are high. For instance, the Kolkata-Lal Kuan special train services will run according to a timetable that allows for regular departures and arrivals, further enhancing the operational reliability during the festival. Such proactive measures not only facilitate smoother travel but also contribute to overall passenger satisfaction; crucial for the railways’ image during high-demand seasons like Holi.
