Indian Railways has announced the operation of 18 special trains on the UP-Bihar route to accommodate the increased travel demand during the Holi festival.
As the festival of Holi approaches, many people across the country are making their way back to their homes to celebrate. In response to the anticipated surge in passenger numbers, Indian Railways has decided to introduce 18 special trains, aimed particularly at passengers traveling between Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. CPRO Saraswati Chandra from East Central Railway confirmed the initiative, highlighting that the special trains will ease the journey for many travelers returning home for the festivities.
The special train services will begin from February 28 and will run until March 28, 2026. For instance, the Puri-Patna-Puri Special will operate every Saturday from Puri at 14:55, arriving in Patna the following day at 10:45, while the reverse service will take place every Sunday, adding convenience for passengers planning to celebrate Holi. This move by the railways is expected to greatly assist those looking to celebrate the festival with their families.
With the introduction of these special trains, passengers can look forward to more options and flexibility in their travel plans during this significant time.
