Gyeonggi Governor Kim Dong-yeon cancels 'Yoon Again' KINTEX concert... 'False application and violation of social norms'

Gyeonggi Governor Kim Dong-yeon has cancelled a concert linked to a political event at KINTEX, citing false applications and societal norms violations.

Governor Kim Dong-yeon of Gyeonggi Province announced the cancellation of a concert scheduled for March 1, known as 'Jeon Han-gil's KINTEX concert', stating that he would not tolerate actions that dilute the spirit of the March 1st Movement. Kim's comments followed a briefing by Gyeonggi Province spokesperson Kang Min-seok, where it was revealed that the event organizers misrepresented details in their application and attempted to hold an event that contradicted societal norms using deceit and falsehoods. Consequently, Kim requested the cancellation at the KINTEX venue, which aligns with operational regulations that limit venue allocation for events deemed socially unacceptable.

Kim, who has previously emphasized stringent punishments for those advocating insurrection, viewed the 'Yoon Again' assembly as inconsistent with societal order and conventions. On his Facebook page, he expressed his strong opposition to the activities of what he referred to as right-wing delusions, asserting that he would not allow such elements to thrive in Gyeonggi Province. The spokesperson dismissed claims from the event organizers, who labeled the cancellation as repression, arguing that it was a rightful administrative decision against deceit rather than an act of suppression.

The event, organized by an entity identified as P, was intended to commemorate the March 1st Movement with both classical and popular music performances. However, Jeon, through his YouTube channel, revealed the political nature of the event by stating intentions to proclaim 'Yoon Again' and advocate for the eradication of electoral fraud, thereby indicating that it was a politically charged rally. The province determined this constituted clear false reporting and administrative deception, warranting the cancellation of the event.
