Kim Dong-yeon: 'Real Estate Collusion and Jeonse Fraud Must Be Severely Punished'... Gyeonggi Province Launches Investigation Team in Earnest

Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon announced stringent measures against real estate collusion and jeonse fraud to ensure market stability and protect residents.

On the 12th, Kim Dong-yeon, the governor of Gyeonggi Province, directed authorities to take strong action against organized collusion disrupting the real estate market. During a meeting at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office, he emphasized that the provincial government would respond severely and comprehensively to those undermining the market, regardless of their status. He reaffirmed that establishing a fair real estate transaction order is a steadfast principle of Gyeonggi Province and labeled price collusion and jeonse fraud as crimes threatening the livelihoods of ordinary citizens. Kim instructed the investigation task force to demonstrate a zero-tolerance policy towards illegal activities, pledging to pursue offenders relentlessly.

In light of the upcoming spring moving season, he urged the full mobilization of investigative resources to combat crimes causing housing instability, such as jeonse fraud. The task force, which initially consisted of two special investigators, has been significantly expanded to include 16 members, who will operate in four teams under the supervision of the land information department. The scope of investigation includes false reports of real estate transactions, price collusion through online communities, and other market-disturbing activities such as down contracts and the resale of allocation rights.

The provincial government plans to proceed with robust subsequent measures based on the investigation results, including criminal charges and administrative actions against perpetrators of illegal activities. This initiative illustrates a proactive approach by the Gyeonggi provincial government to safeguard housing stability for its residents and ensure a transparent and equitable real estate market in the region.
