Heat arrives early! Temperature rises in Delhi-Punjab... Weather will change around Holi
India is experiencing unusual heat earlier than usual, particularly in northern regions like Delhi and Punjab, with temperatures rising significantly.
India is witnessing an early onset of heat in many parts of the country, particularly in northern regions such as Delhi and Punjab. According to the meteorological agency Skymet Weather, typically, the northern plains experience warmth latest when transitioning towards the pre-monsoon season. However, this year, the impact of rising temperatures has already begun to be felt. Temperatures during both day and night have reached double digits, while normally, mild cold persists until early March.
In various regions of western Rajasthan, minimum temperatures have soared to between 15 to 19°C, signaling that the effects of heat are beginning to take hold. In Haryana, particularly in the southern areas adjacent to Rajasthan, minimum temperatures are now recorded at 11-14°C. Moreover, several locations in Punjab are experiencing minimum temperatures around 10°C. This unusual heat wave raises concerns about the weather patterns and their implications on agriculture and daily life, particularly as the festival of Holi approaches, which traditionally marks the transition into warmer weather.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) also reported that in Delhi, there has been a noticeable increase in temperature, with maximum temperatures reaching 30.5°C in the Safdarjung area. As these temperature changes unfold, further adjustments in weather patterns are expected between March and May, raising discussions about potential disruptions and the effects on seasonal planning for various sectors, including agriculture and public health.
