Snow or Rain Nationwide from Morning... Expected to Aid Firefighting in Miryang
A forecast predicts snow or rain across South Korea, which is expected to aid in extinguishing a wildfire in Miryang.
On Tuesday, November 24, South Korea is expected to experience widespread precipitation in the form of snow or rain, with the inland areas of Gyeongsang Province anticipating over 10 cm of snowfall, prompting the issuance of heavy snow advisories. The Korea Meteorological Administration has reported that most parts of the country will experience rain or snow, particularly in the Gyeongsang Province, where significant accumulation is expected due to the influence of a low-pressure system passing near Jeju Island.
The heavy snowfall is expected to bring much-needed moisture to the region, assisting firefighters battling a wildfire in Miryang, located in South Gyeongsang Province. Areas including Gumi, Goryeong, Seongju, Chilgok, and Gimcheon in North Gyeongsang and Sancheong, Hamyang, Geochang, and Hapcheon in South Gyeongsang are under preliminary snow advisories, indicating that accumulation of 1 to 3 cm of heavy, wet snow is likely throughout the day.
Forecasts indicate varying precipitation levels across the country, with Jeju expected to receive between 20 to 80 mm, and the southeastern regions, including Busan and Ulsan, expected to receive 10 to 40 mm. As the system progresses, the southern parts of the country may also experience strong gusts of wind, reaching up to 15 m/s, especially in mountainous areas, thus raising concerns about further fire hazards even as wet conditions prevail, illustrating the ongoing battle between weather extremes and local emergency response efforts.
