The governor of Piauí announced significant investments for the state university, including the construction of its first university restaurant and the expansion of facilities.
On Monday, Governor Rafael Fonteles unveiled a significant investment plan for the State University of Piauí (Uespi) during the inauguration of new buildings for the Law Faculty and Central Library at the Torquato Neto Campus in Teresina. The plan includes the construction of Uespi's first University Restaurant, which will cover an area of 770.63 square meters and have the capacity to serve up to 2,000 meals per day, with an investment of R$ 2.1 million.
In addition to the university restaurant, another major project announced was the construction of the central auditorium for the Torquato Neto campus. This facility is set to be designed with almost 1,700 square meters and a capacity for 724 attendees, with an estimated bidding value of R$ 8 million. This development aims to significantly enhance the venue availability for academic, scientific, and administrative events at the university.
The governor also highlighted the increase in funding for the Uespi Tech program, which will see its budget rise from R$ 500,000 to R$ 1 million. This expansion aims to bolster scientific production and research initiatives within the university, further establishing Uespi's role as a pivotal educational institution in the region.
