Students from the public network are graduated in the 'Parliament of the Future' ceremony of the TRE
Thirty public school students from Teresina and interior Piauí graduated in a ceremony of the 'Parliament of the Future' project at the Piauí Regional Electoral Court.
On Monday, 23rd, thirty students from public high schools in Teresina and the interior of Piauí were diplomated in a special ceremony dedicated to the 'Parliament of the Future' project hosted by the Piauí Regional Electoral Court (TRE). These students, from the first and second years of high school, participated in an official electoral process that included affiliation with thematic parties created by the project, registration of candidacies, electoral campaigning, and voting using electronic ballots provided by the TRE. This program aims to encourage political and civic education among public school students.
The graduation ceremony was attended by prominent figures including the president of the TRE-PI, Sebastião Ribeiro Martins, members of the Electoral Court, and authorities from the Electoral Justice of Piauí, as well as managers from the Piauí Legislative Assembly. Their participation in the event highlighted the importance of political engagement and education for youth in the region, reflecting a commitment from local authorities to foster active citizenship among the newer generations.
The students are set to step into the role of 'Deputies of the Future' on Tuesday, 24th, allowing them to engage in plenary sessions at the Legislative Assembly of Piauí (Alepi) where they will simulate the workings of the legislative process. This initiative not only gives students a direct experience in politics but also aims to inspire future leaders who are better informed and prepared to participate in the democratic process within their communities.
