Piauí at the Physics Tournament: 5 out of 7 qualified are students from the state education system
Five out of seven Piauí students qualified for the Brazilian Physics Tournament are from the state education network.
The Piauí state education system is making significant strides in science education, as evidenced by the recent success at the Brazilian Physics Tournament (TBF) 2026. Out of seven Piauí students who qualified from the online selection of the International Physics Olympiad (SOIF), five are from the state government's education network, showcasing the quality of public education in the region. This achievement highlights not just the students' talent in physics, but also the effectiveness of educational policies that support high-level academic performance among public school students.
The qualifying students are from the Integrated State Center (Ceti) Governador Dirceu Mendes Arcoverde, located in Teresina, and they recently departed for the TBF 2026 event taking place in João Pessoa, Paraíba. This competition, which runs until February 27, 2026, brings together some of the best young minds in physics from across Brazil. The state education department (Seduc) has fully funded their travel expenses, reflecting a strong institutional commitment to promoting excellence and allowing deserving students to participate in significant academic competitions.
This achievement not only represents an individual triumph for the students but also positions Piauí's public education on a national stage, raising awareness of the capabilities and potential in regions often overlooked in terms of educational successes. The recognition of these students is expected to foster more support for science education initiatives within the state, potentially inspiring future generations to excel in physics and other scientific fields.
