The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) has issued a warning for heavy rains in 103 cities in Rio Grande do Norte, including the capital, Natal, valid until Tuesday night.
The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) has raised a yellow alert for heavy rainfall across 103 cities in Rio Grande do Norte, notably including the state capital, Natal. The alert is effective until 11:59 PM on Tuesday, indicating a potential danger with forecasted rains ranging from 20 to 30 millimeters per hour, and up to 50 millimeters in a day. Additionally, intense winds are expected, with speeds between 40 to 60 kilometers per hour.
Inmet has assessed a low risk of power outages, falling tree branches, flooding, and electrical discharges. In light of the warning, the agency has issued safety recommendations to the public. Among these, it advises against seeking shelter under trees due to the risk of both falling branches and electric shocks, and discourages parking near transmission towers and billboards that could be hazardous in strong winds.
Individuals are encouraged to stay informed and reach out to civil defense services or firefighters if necessary. The situation remains fluid, and residents should remain vigilant as weather conditions may change rapidly, particularly with thunderstorms and heavy rainfall predicted in several areas.
