On February 24, Latvia will hold a support action for Ukraine titled 'Together to Victory!' to commemorate the fourth anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion. This event will take place at the Freedom Monument in Riga, beginning at sunrise at 7:30 AM and lasting for half an hour, as reported by the Latvian Civic Alliance. Participants will form the shape of Ukraine's map in a specially designated area and are encouraged to sing to show solidarity with Ukraine, joined by representatives from 28 choirs and ensembles, along with other musicians.
The event will start with a moment of silence to honor those who have lost their lives due to the conflict. Following this, under the direction of conductor Matis Tučs, attendees will sing the Latvian national anthem, 'Dievs, svētī Latviju!', and the Ukrainian national anthem, 'Ще не вмерла України', alongside other songs that revolve around themes of justice and peace, featuring performances from well-known soloists such as Aija Vītoliņa and Daumants Kalniņš.
The initiative reflects Latvia's ongoing support for Ukraine amidst the conflict and serves as an expression of solidarity not only within the community but also with the larger international movement advocating for Ukraine's sovereignty and resilience. Participants and interested individuals can find lyrics and music for the songs on the dedicated website copalidzuzvarai.lv, promoting wider involvement in this important commemorative occasion.
