A significant rainfall event occurred in Taquarituba, São Paulo, on Friday night, resulting in the fall of several large trees and prompting a swift response from Civil Defense teams across various neighborhoods. The city recorded a rainfall amount of 90 millimeters in a short period, which was enough to cause considerable damage to mature trees in the area. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported despite the incidents.
The municipality noted that various neighborhoods experienced the impact of the severe weather, including Parque São Roque, Muniz Matão, Serrinha, and Santa Rita. In Parque São Roque, a large tree fell on a parked car, but thankfully, no one was injured in that instance. In Vila Santa Rita de Cássia, a large tree branch fell into a residential yard, partially damaging the laundry area.
Emergency teams worked through the night to clear roads and mitigate any immediate dangers posed by the fallen trees. Operations continued the following Saturday to ensure that all hazards were addressed and the community could return to normalcy as quickly as possible. The response, coordinated by local authorities, highlights the importance of preparedness for such weather events in urban settings.
