Mathematics tests for students of various grades will help prepare for assessments and examinations
An initiative in Lithuania is providing trial mathematics tests for eighth graders to enhance their preparation for national assessments and exams.
In Lithuania, a new initiative is set to aid students in their preparation for national assessments and examinations in mathematics. According to a survey conducted in the previous year, 72% of schools participated in trial achievement tests, with over 75% of students completing these tasks. This participation seems to correlate with improved performance in actual assessments, as students who took part in the trial tests scored several points higher than their peers who did not, as stated by Simonas Å abanovas, the head of the National Education Agency. This suggests that such practice tests are a significant support tool for students.
The first trial mathematics task will be held on February 25, specifically designed for eighth graders, and aims to prepare them for the National Student Achievement Test (NMPP). The task is based on the educational content covered in 5th to 8th grades and will be administered electronically, allowing students to complete it within a 90-minute timeframe. After completing the test, students will be able to view a preliminary score on the screen, providing immediate feedback on their performance.
The introduction of these trial tests reflects an ongoing trend in Lithuania toward improving educational outcomes through targeted preparation measures. With the data showing positive correlations between participation in practice assessments and success in official exams, educational authorities are likely to continue promoting these initiatives, thus playing a crucial role in shaping future academic standards and supporting student success in a competitive educational environment.
