650 police patrols and 130 crimes prevented from control room a week after Ministry of Interior intervention in Segura EP

A collaboration between Segura EP and the Ministry of Interior has resulted in the prevention of 130 crimes and the execution of 650 police patrols within a week of the ministry's intervention.

In a recent report, it was revealed that the operational alliance between Segura EP and Ecuador's Ministry of Interior successfully prevented 130 crimes from February 15 to 21, thanks to a comprehensive five-year cooperation agreement that integrates municipal monitoring with preventative, investigative, and intelligence subsystems. During this time frame, the monitoring center, C5 Gye, generated 1,412 alerts, which led to the deployment of 650 police patrols coordinated with the National Police.

The intervention by the Ministry of Interior, announced by Minister John Reimberg on February 15, highlighted the necessity of restructuring resources and logistics within Segura EP to enhance public safety. In addition to the patrols, police units responded to 32 investigative requests and ensured the delivery of 145 videos to the Prosecutor's Office, maintaining a chain of custody to support ongoing investigations. This integrated approach aims to bolster community security and effectively combat crime in the region.

The effort reflects a significant shift in public safety strategy in Ecuador, as local entities like Segura EP work alongside national authorities to strengthen law enforcement capabilities. This intervention not only aims at immediate crime prevention but also establishes a framework for continued collaboration between municipal and national levels, potentially enhancing the long-term effectiveness of crime-fighting initiatives across the country.
