Segura EP and the Ministry of the Interior Sign a Five-Year Agreement: The Plan Includes Coordinated Work with More than 700 Police Officers and 146 Vehicles

A new agreement aims to enhance public safety in Guayaquil through improved coordination between municipal security and the national police.

The Ministry of the Interior and Segura EP have recently signed a five-year agreement aimed at strengthening the municipal security system in Guayaquil. This agreement outlines a framework for the integration of a monitoring center with investigative and intelligence divisions of the National Police, as well as preventive patrolling in the city. The authorities emphasized that this system will allow for immediate responses to alerts detected by surveillance cameras, potentially leading to arrests within minutes of an incident occurring.

The Interior Minister, John Reimberg, highlighted that police personnel will be actively working within the monitoring centers, which will enable real-time tracking of events in Guayaquil. The primary goal of the initiative is to shorten the response time between the issuance of an alert via surveillance technology and the arrival of police patrols at the scene. By deploying integrated resources, the agreement intends to create a more efficient security network that can adapt to the needs of the local community.

To achieve these objectives, the plan involves the incorporation of over 700 members of the National Police, along with the initial deployment of 146 vehicles for joint operations in strategic areas of the city. This concerted effort is expected to bolster the presence of law enforcement within Guayaquil, thereby enhancing the overall sense of security for residents. It marks a significant step toward fostering a proactive approach to urban safety through collaborative governance.
