The Latvian Olympic Committee has announced that short tracker Roberts Krūzbergs and cross-country skier Patrīcija Eiduka will carry the Latvian flag during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina. This ceremony will take place on Sunday, February 22, at 9:30 PM Latvian time in Verona, where athletes from all participating countries will gather to celebrate the conclusion of the games.
Roberts Krūzbergs made history by winning the first-ever Olympic medal for Latvia in short track, securing a bronze in the 1500 meters. His achievements highlight the remarkable development of winter sports in Latvia, as he showcased the country's potential on an international platform. Meanwhile, Patrīcija Eiduka has also made significant strides in the sport, achieving the highest finish in Latvian cross-country skiing history with an 11th place in the 50km classical style race and a 15th place in the 10km freestyle event.
