On Friday, a surge of mild air swept into Finland, dramatically raising the temperatures across the country. In Salo, for example, the morning temperature was recorded at a chilly minus 25 degrees Celsius, but by noon it had climbed to just below minus 10 degrees. This significant shift in temperature showcases a rapid change in the weather as Finland transitions from the depths of winter towards milder conditions.
Meteorologist Anna Latvala from Foreca indicates that Saturday will likely be the warmest day of the week, with temperatures hovering around zero or slightly positive in Salo and other southern regions. The prediction highlights areas such as the Åland Islands and southwestern Finland experiencing the warmest weather, indicating that spring is on the horizon, albeit with localized variations.
The weather fluctuation is particularly notable in Lapland, where temperatures plunged to around minus 30 degrees overnight on Friday. However, during the daytime on Saturday, Lapland might see temperatures ranging between minus 7 and minus 12 degrees. This sudden change not only signals an early arrival of spring-like temperatures but also serves as a reminder of the weather's unpredictability in the region, emphasizing the need for communities to adapt to these rapid fluctuations.
