Weather Change Hits – Up to 10 Degrees
Finland will experience a shift in weather with temperatures potentially reaching 10 degrees Celsius by the weekend after a period of rain, sleet, and snow.
Finland's weather is about to change significantly, according to meteorologist Eerik Saarikalle from the Finnish Meteorological Institute. On Wednesday, much of the country will see rain, sleet, and snow, particularly in the eastern regions, as an area of precipitation moves away from the eastern border. A new low-pressure system is expected to bring additional precipitation, especially in the central parts of Finland, where snow and sleet are likely, while areas further south are anticipated to see rain. This shift could impact driving conditions as there may be localized showers alongside increasing winds throughout the day.
As Wednesday progresses, the wind is predicted to strengthen, especially in southwestern Finland, where gusts could reach up to 20 meters per second. Current temperatures across the country mainly range from 0 to 5 degrees Celsius, while northern Lapland might benefit from clearer and cooler weather. However, as the evening sets in, temperatures are expected to drop significantly, nearing 10 degrees below zero.
Looking ahead to the weekend, temperatures are projected to rise, with southern Finland potentially breaking the 10 degrees Celsius mark. The forecast promises sunny days from Thursday to Monday, hinting at a pleasant shift towards warmer spring weather. This transition indicates not only a change in temperature but also a psychological boost as the country moves away from winter's chill toward the more welcoming climate of spring. This change could have implications for outdoor activities and general public mood throughout the region.
