More than 2,000 people were monitored by the PRF on highways in Acre during the Carnival Operation
Over 2,000 individuals were monitored by the Federal Highway Police (PRF-AC) during the 2026 Carnival Operation in Acre.
During the 2026 Carnival Operation, which took place on highways BR-364 and BR-317 in Acre, the Federal Highway Police (PRF-AC) conducted checks on over 2,000 individuals. The operation commenced on February 13, coinciding with the first night of Carnival, and concluded on Ash Wednesday, February 18. This annual operation aims to enhance road safety during one of Brazil's most festive and potentially hazardous periods, with data released showing a comparison with previous years' enforcement efforts.
The 2026 operation reported an overall decrease in the number of accidents compared to 2025, with only one accident noted this year compared to five in the previous year. Additionally, while there were seven people injured during the 2025 operation, the 2026 operation did not report any injuries. However, it is important to note that there was one fatality this year, raising concerns about road safety despite the lower number of incidents.
Furthermore, the PRF-AC highlighted a significant increase in enforcement efforts, with a 37% rise in the number of vehicles checked compared to the previous year and a 41% increase in recorded infractions. This suggests a proactive approach by the authorities to ensure compliance with traffic regulations during the busy Carnival period, indicating a heightened awareness of public safety on the roads during festive occasions.
