Clean Monday: 100% occupancy on KTEL routes to Patras

KTEL bus routes from Kifissos and Liosia are fully booked for the Clean Monday holiday, particularly to Patras.

As the Clean Monday holiday approaches, KTEL, Greece's intercity bus service, reports full occupancy on its routes from Kifissos and Liosia, particularly toward Patras, which is expected to reach 100% occupancy on February 20th and 21st. This surge in demand has resulted in increased trip frequency, with 80 trips already operated towards Patras by February 19th, compared to the usual daily average of 18 trips. On Friday, the service plans for 180 trips and 120 trips on Saturday, reflecting the high demand for holiday travel.

The president of the Panhellenic Federation of KTEL stated that not only Patras but also other destinations in Aetolia-Acarnania and the Peloponnese, such as Kalamata, are seeing increased services. Additional routes from the Liosia station are catering to destinations like Karditsa, Trikala, Larissa, and Volos, indicating a broader trend of holiday travel within Greece.

This increased activity is particularly significant as it showcases the patterns of holiday travel in Greece, especially during culturally important times like Clean Monday. The heightened interest in these routes is attributed to citizens returning to their hometowns or visiting popular holiday destinations, further boosting local economies and tourism during this festive season.
