The return of the Clean Monday travelers is slow – Where increased traffic is observed

Traffic is increasing on the Athens-Corynth and Athens-Lamia highways as vacationers return to Attica after the Clean Monday festivities.

As the hours progress, traffic is steadily increasing on the Athens-Corynth and Athens-Lamia highways, signaling the return of travelers who enjoyed the Clean Monday long weekend. Specifically, on the Athens-Corynth route, congestion is noticeable from the Isthmus up to the Elefsina tolls, with vehicles moving at low speeds intermittently. The heaviest delays are recorded just before Agioi Theodoroi and near Megara.

A similar situation is seen on the Athens-Lamia route, where high traffic volumes are reported from Schimatari to Malessina, as well as around the Afidnes tolls. According to police data, from 6 AM to 6 PM, a total of 49,738 vehicles have returned to Attica. This includes 22,072 cars via Athens-Lamia and 27,666 via Athens-Corynth, indicating a busy return journey for many.

Traffic police have implemented increased measures across the country's road network to ensure the safe movement of citizens during this busy period. With many returning from outings, the authorities focus on managing congestion and maintaining safety on the roads.
