The head of LŽS says he has received only one request to terminate membership in the organization, debt is allegedly an internal matter

The head of LŽS, A. Antanaitis, reports only one formal request for termination of membership amid claims of internal debt, indicating turnover is common among its nearly 500 members.

A. Antanaitis, the head of the Lithuanian Journalists' Union (LŽS), has remarked that he has only been formally notified of one member's request to leave the organization, in contrast to speculation about a wider exit of journalists. He emphasized that such departures are natural, particularly in a large organization consisting of around 500 individuals, where turnover is common due to various circumstances including job changes and personal choices.

Antanaitis also addressed concerns regarding the organization's financial status, asserting that LŽS does not have any external debts, dismissing claims suggesting otherwise as internal matters. This comes in light of a few journalists reportedly announcing their departure, including Daiva Žeimytė-Bilienė, Rytas Staselis, and Vaidas Pilkauskas, although the extent of a potential mass departure remains unverified.

His comments aim to mitigate concerns surrounding the organization’s stability amidst the resignations, urging those departing to pursue their paths. The situation reflects the dynamics within media organizations, where changes often occur due to evolving personal and professional landscapes, as well as the pressures faced by journalists today.
