LŽS leader: the situation regarding the debt transferred to D. Radzevičius' children is currently frozen
The Lithuanian Journalists' Union leader A. Antanaitis commented on the stalled situation regarding a debt of nearly €60,000 that former leader D. Radzevičius transferred to his children amid ongoing financial issues.
A. Antanaitis, the current leader of the Lithuanian Journalists' Union (LŽS), stated that the situation concerning a nearly €60,000 debt previously held by former leader D. Radzevičius has reached a standstill. Radzevičius transferred this debt to his children while the union faces challenges in paying salaries. Antanaitis mentioned that the union is not in a position to repay this debt in the near future and is not hurrying to formalize the debt obligations, as he currently lacks the funds necessary to pay salaries entirely.
Antanaitis suggested that a solution could potentially involve a peace agreement where some part of the debt could be alleviated. He emphasized that discussions might lead to partial payments instead of repaying the full amount, but for now, the situation remains frozen. The discourse revolves around finding a reasonable resolution to the financial troubles that have engulfed the union due to the unresolved debts and salary issues, highlighting the complexities of union management amid financial distress.
The backdrop to this situation is a growing unrest within the union, as evidenced by eleven members leaving over dissatisfaction with management and financial governance. The conditions surrounding the LŽS, once a flourishing journalistic body, indicate a dire need for leadership and financial responsibility to restore trust within its ranks and address the grievances of its current and former members.
