The program "It Happened Here" will return in March

The new season of 'It Happened Here' will explore lesser-known places in Latvia with historians and journalist David Ernštein.

In its upcoming seventh season, the program "It Happened Here" focuses on uncovering remarkable stories and legends from five lesser-known locations in Latvia, including Atašieni, Subati, Bārbeli, Smārdi, and Vaidava. This season features notable historians, such as Inna Gīle and Tatjana Bogdanoviča, working alongside journalist David Ernštein, as they engage deeply with the local communities over three days in each site.

During their visits, the historians act as detectives, conducting research and collecting unique tales that illustrate the historical significance of these places. Following each episode, a more extensive version of the story will be published on the LSM.lv site, providing viewers additional insights into the discoveries made in the show. This interactive element promotes community engagement as local residents vote on the best story, which is then honored by naming a special location in the village after it.

The program not only educates the audience about Latvia's historical events but also fosters pride and curiosity about regional heritage, emphasizing the importance of remembering and exploring local narratives that often go untold. By highlighting these stories, "It Happened Here" contributes to a broader understanding of Latvia's culture and history, allowing viewers to appreciate their local landscapes and communities more fully.
