The show 'It Happened Here' will return to audiences in March

The seventh season of 'It Happened Here' will feature historians exploring lesser-known places in Latvia and uncovering unique stories and legends.

The upcoming seventh season of the television series 'It Happened Here' will see historians and journalist David Ernštreits venturing into five lesser-known locations in Latvia: Atašieni, Subati, Bārbeli, Smārdi, and Vaidava. Each episode aims to reveal remarkable stories and legends tied to these areas, providing a deeper understanding of Latvia's rich cultural heritage. Following each episode's airing, viewers will have access to expanded articles on the public media portal LSM.lv, elucidating the findings showcased in the show.

In this season, a team of historians, including Inna Gīle, Tatjana Bogdanoviča, Lolita Tomsone, Edgars Plētiens, Gatis Krūmiņš, Kaspars Zellis, Valdis Kuzmins, and Valdis Klišāns, will take on the role of detectives for three days as they examine and investigate unique tales, significant events, and historical legacies within these Latvian villages. On the third day, the historians will introduce the residents to the stories they have discovered, and through a local voting process, the best story will be chosen and honored by naming a special place in the village after it, thus engaging the community in recognizing their own local heritage.

This interactive approach not only aims to entertain but also to educate viewers about the historical significance of seemingly ordinary places in Latvia. By focusing on local stories, the program fosters a sense of pride and recognition among inhabitants, encouraging the exploration and preservation of their unique cultural identities.
