Reconstructing the Rainwater Drainage Collector on Ulmaņa Street for Nearly Two Million Euros
Riga's finance and administration committee has approved a major investment project for the reconstruction of the rainwater drainage collector on Ulmaņa Street.
The Riga City Council's Finance and Administrative Affairs Committee has recently endorsed a significant investment project aimed at the reconstruction of the rainwater drainage collector along Ulmaņa Street, specifically the stretch from Lielirbes Street to Mārupīte. The total cost of this project is anticipated to reach up to 1.9 million euros. This reconstruction effort is planned to be carried out in two phases and is a crucial part of the engineering infrastructure for this major urban street, which plays a vital role in managing rainwater collection and drainage.
The current rainwater drainage system on Ulmaņa Street has become worn out and suffers from insufficient functionality, leading to the accumulation of water on the road surface. This not only poses risks to traffic safety but also increases the likelihood of traffic accidents and accelerates the deterioration of the road surface. Given that Ulmaņa Street is one of the busiest main roads in Riga, characterized by intense traffic flow, it is essential to address these infrastructural issues to minimize hazards for both drivers and pedestrians.
By investing in the reconstruction of the drainage system, the municipality aims to alleviate the problems of flooding and enhance the overall safety and convenience for all commuters. The project underscores the local government's commitment to improving urban infrastructure and ensuring a safer transportation environment in Riga, ultimately benefiting the city's residents and visitors alike.
