Quiport announces temporary suspension of operations at Quito airport for preventive maintenance
Quiport has announced temporary air operation suspensions at Quito's Mariscal Sucre International Airport for preventive maintenance on several dates between April and October.
Quiport, the managing corporation of Quito's Mariscal Sucre International Airport, has announced that air operations will be temporarily suspended on multiple dates from April through October due to necessary preventive maintenance work on the runway. The airport has released a schedule outlining specific closure times, primarily on Saturdays, to minimize disruptions, given that flights tend to be lower on those days.
The maintenance work will take place at different times, with closures scheduled from 02:00 to 14:00 on certain Saturdays and from 06:00 to 14:00 on another date. Notably, there are no scheduled closures during the high summer season in July and August to prevent impacting travel during this peak period. Quiport highlighted the importance of this maintenance to ensure the safety and operational efficiency of the airport facilities.
This announcement reflects an ongoing commitment to maintaining aviation safety standards, as well as the operational integrity of one of Ecuador's busiest airports. Stakeholders, including airlines and passengers, will need to adjust their travel plans accordingly, given the outlined suspension dates. The proactive approach by Quiport also indicates a well-considered strategy to manage airport operations while prioritizing safety during essential maintenance activities.
