The Mariscal Sucre airport in Quito, Ecuador, has marked its thirteenth anniversary since its inauguration on February 20, 2013, transitioning from its urban location to a contemporary terminal in Tababela. Over this period, the airport has facilitated more than 700,000 flights without any accidents, serving a total of 60.7 million passengers. The impressive operational efficiency, reflected in a 99.32% operational time, has significantly contributed to positioning Ecuador and Quito as attractive destinations for tourists, businesses, and investors.
The airport's operational accomplishments have been celebrated by Quiport, the corporate entity managing the airport. They reported that in addition to passenger traffic, the facility has handled around 2.8 million tons of export cargo, which has reinforced the growth of vital sectors in the Ecuadorian economy like floriculture and agro-export.
