Lithuanian MMA fighters achieved several accolades at the European championships held in Serbia, with notable performances from youth and adult categories.
The Lithuanian MMA team showcased their skills at the European championships in Serbia, where youth world champion Gerda Brazaitė advanced to the finals in the under-21 category, ultimately losing to Czech competitor Jana Lamačova after a fierce battle that ended with a unanimous decision against her. In the semifinals, Brazaitė secured her place by defeating a proficient Ukrainian athlete, Jevgenija Kakama, through an effective arm-wrestling maneuver, demonstrating her tactical acumen and strength in the sport.
In the adult men's category, Nojus Zakarauskas captured the bronze medal in the under-74.8 kg weight class. He successfully defeated opponents from Bulgaria, Ukraine, and the Czech Republic on his way to the podium but was ultimately outmatched by Ireland's Aidan Fegan in the semifinals. Other members of the Lithuanian adult team, including Emilis Panceris, Dovydas Šidlauskas, and Tautvydas Šarkauskas, faced early exits and did not progress beyond the first round of their respective events, highlighting the competitive nature of the championships.
Additionally, in the U18 group, Mustafa Doganas from the Lithuanian team excelled in the under-61.2 kg category against Ori Aviguy from Israel, further indicating that the future of Lithuanian MMA appears to be brimming with talent, though the competition remains fierce.
