The Panevėžys District Approved the Budget: Most Funds Will Be Allocated to Education and Infrastructure
The Panevėžys District in Lithuania has approved a budget with significant allocations for education and infrastructure for 2026.
The Panevėžys District municipality has announced its budget for 2026, projecting revenues of €87.5 million, which represents a 15.4% increase from the €75.8 million budgeted for 2025. This growth in revenue is attributed to increased income tax collections, state subsidies for municipal functions, and funds from the European Union and other sources aimed at financing various projects. Additionally, the municipality plans to incur loans amounting to €1.45 million to further support its budgetary objectives.
A substantial portion of the budget—approximately 43%—is earmarked for education. The funds will be used to support educational institutions, improve the quality of education, upgrade infrastructure, and implement various educational initiatives. The municipality is committed to enhancing the learning environment and accessibility through plans such as the construction of a new kindergarten in Molainiai and increasing access to all-day school services in Panevėžys and Šiauliai districts.
Furthermore, critical projects like the establishment of the Panevėžys District STEAM Center, the "Millennium School II" project, and the extension of Paliūniškis School are set to continue. These initiatives emphasize the district's focus on developing a robust educational framework and modernizing school facilities to meet the needs of its growing population, ensuring sustainable development and improvement in education services for the community.
