Approved budget of 264.4 million euros for Vilnius district municipal: the largest part for education

The Vilnius district municipality’s budget has been approved, showing an increase of 8.8% from last year, with a significant portion allocated to education and infrastructure.

The Vilnius district municipality has approved a budget of 264.4 million euros for the current year, representing an increase of 8.8 percent or 21.3 million euros compared to the previous year. The municipality, under the leadership of Mayor Robertas Duchnevičius, emphasizes that this budget is oriented towards the needs of local residents. A considerable portion of the budget is earmarked for education, which has been identified as a priority, showing a commitment to improving educational infrastructure and services in the region.

Almost half of the budget, amounting to 120.4 million euros, will be allocated for education-related expenses, including reconstruction, modernization, and construction of educational institutions. The municipality also plans to continue its program for the establishment and leasing of modular educational facilities, which indicates an effort to adapt to growing educational demands. The focus on education not only reflects the municipality's priorities but also aims to improve the quality of education accessible to its residents.

In addition to education, the budget allocates 10.23 million euros for road infrastructure development. This funding is expected to be supplemented with approximately 7 million euros from the Road Maintenance and Development Program, along with an additional 1.7 million euros from the municipality's infrastructure development funds. By enhancing road infrastructure and expanding educational facilities, the Vilnius district municipality aims to support the community's needs and stimulate local growth and development through strategic investments in essential services and infrastructure.
