4000 Liters of Spirit Seized in Bihar, 20 Thousand Liters of Alcohol Was to be Made for Holi
In Bihar, authorities seized 4000 liters of spirit hidden in urea jars, intended for illegal alcohol production during Holi.
In a significant operation in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, law enforcement thwarted an attempt to produce over 20 thousand liters of illegal alcohol ahead of the Holi festival. The excitement in the region, known for its strict alcohol prohibition laws, was due to the interception of approximately 4000 liters of spirit that holds a market value of over one crore rupees. The spirit was cleverly concealed in jars meant for urea to evade police detection.
The operation was executed by a joint team from the Excise Department and the Muzaffarpur police, fueled by a tip-off about the illegal activities. Inspector Deepak Kumar Singh led the operation, which took place at Garha Chowk in the Hathoudi police station area, where the team successfully confiscated 40 jars of spirit from a tempo vehicle. The authorities have arrested one individual implicated in the smuggling ring, and investigations are ongoing to track down additional suspects.
This incident highlights the continued challenges faced by authorities in enforcing alcohol prohibition in Bihar. As the festival of Holi approaches, a time associated with celebrations and festivities that often involve alcohol consumption, both law enforcement agencies and local communities remain vigilant. The state government is under pressure to not only enforce the ban but also to address the persistent issues of illegal alcohol production that complicate public health and safety efforts.
