Secret Basement on Top of the Car... 1008 Bottles of Alcohol Seized in Nawada, Bihar
Police in Nawada, Bihar, seized 1008 bottles of illegal alcohol hidden in a secret compartment on the roof of a vehicle during a crackdown on liquor smuggling.
In an ongoing battle against alcohol smuggling amid prohibition in Bihar, local authorities in Nawada have uncovered a significant operation involving a hidden compartment on a vehicle. The Excise Department acted on a tip-off about a suspicious vehicle suspected of carrying a large quantity of alcohol through the area. Upon stopping the vehicle, initial checks revealed nothing unusual, prompting a more comprehensive investigation by the officers.
During their thorough search, the officers noticed a specially constructed box on the roof of the vehicle that didn’t seem to match the car's design. Upon opening this compartment, they discovered a large stash of alcohol bottles concealed inside. This innovative method demonstrated the lengths smugglers are willing to go to evade law enforcement, using seemingly ordinary structures to hide illegal items. Had the police not conducted an in-depth inspection, the alcohol could have easily been smuggled out of the area.
In total, the operation resulted in the seizure of 1008 bottles, amounting to approximately 378 liters of illicit liquor. The authorities arrested a suspect, identified as Vishwakarma Pandit from Bokaro district in Jharkhand, who is believed to be involved in this trafficking scheme. The incident underscores the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces in combating alcohol smuggling in regions where prohibition laws are strictly enforced, reflecting both the creativity of smugglers and the diligence of the police.
