The Sokoto State Government rewards 259 Qur'an memorisers with motorcycles and financial support at a graduation ceremony.
The Sokoto State Government has recognized and rewarded 259 students who memorized the entire Holy Qur'an at Madarasatul Tahfeez Wal Dirasatul Qur'aniyyah, Hubbaren Shehu, during a graduation ceremony. Governor Ahmed Aliyu announced that the rewards included motorcycles and a significant financial package totaling N178 million, emphasizing the importance of this achievement as a source of pride for the state. The governor referred to the memorization of the Holy Qur'an as a 'rare privilege' and an accomplishment that embodies dedication, discipline, and commitment to Islamic teachings.
During the ceremony held at Giginya Memorial Stadium, Aliyu urged the graduates to utilize their new motorcycles to enhance their mobility while spreading Qur'anic teachings across communities. The distribution of motorcycles was intended to foster self-reliance among the young memorisers, allowing them to engage effectively in teaching and guiding others in their religious communities. This initiative aligns with the state government's broader goal of investing in both Islamic and Western education to promote holistic development among youths.
Governor Aliyu's commitment to supporting education reflects a strategy to inspire the younger generation to value knowledge and community service. By rewarding these students for their hard work and dedication, the Sokoto State Government highlights the importance of religious education alongside secular studies, ensuring that graduates are well-equipped to contribute positively to their communities and society at large.
