Accident with 6 vehicles leaves driver dead and women injured on BR-381
A six-vehicle accident on BR-381 in Galileia resulted in the death of one driver and injuries to two women.
On Wednesday, September 18, a serious accident occurred on BR-381 in Galileia, Brazil, involving six vehicles and resulting in the tragic death of a 61-year-old driver. According to the Military Highway Police (PMRv), the driver was attempting to overtake a truck while in a no-passing zone when he collided with it, subsequently crashing into four other vehicles. Despite immediate medical efforts, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two women who were injured, aged 26 and 41, were traveling in the same vehicle and suffered minor injuries. They were assisted by bystanders and taken to the Municipal Hospital of Governador Valadares for treatment. Fortunately, five other people involved in the accident did not sustain any injuries, although the incident caused significant disruption to traffic in the area.
The local Fire Department assisted at the scene by performing the extrication of the deceased driver and clearing the roadway. After the forensic work by the Civil Police and the Fire Department was completed, traffic was resumed. The investigation into the causes of the accident is ongoing, highlighting the dangers associated with attempting to overtake in prohibited zones on highways.
