Accident between car and truck leaves dead and one injured on BR-381, in Greater BH
A serious accident on BR-381 in Santa Luzia resulted in three fatalities and one injury.
On the morning of Friday, October 20, a grave accident occurred on the BR-381 highway in Santa Luzia, part of the Greater Belo Horizonte metropolitan area, involving a collision between a car and a truck. According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the two vehicles crashed head-on, causing the larger truck to veer off the road. There were four individuals in the car at the time of the incident, three of whom died at the scene, while the fourth was rescued and transported to João XXIII Hospital in Belo Horizonte for treatment.
Witnesses reported a loud noise around 5:30 AM, coinciding with the accident's occurrence near a local landfill and a gas station. The truck reportedly exited the highway after the crash and entered a wooded area bordering the road. The truck driver fled the scene, and as of the last report, had not been located by authorities. Local residents who heard the crash expressed concern over the circumstances surrounding the incident, highlighting the dangers present on that stretch of road.
Emergency services, including the Fire Department, indicated that there had been no prior calls for assistance related to this particular accident before it was reported.
