OHHOO ⟩ Bottle Collectors Operating in Tartu. Student Who Started the Initiative: It Gives Young People the Opportunity to Earn Money
A 9th-grade student from Tartu has launched a bottle collection service that allows young people to earn money while helping others dispose of their empty bottles.
Enriko Ots, a resourceful 9th-grade student from Tartu, Estonia, has devised a unique business idea that aims to assist people in disposing of their empty bottles. Observing that many individuals have piles of recyclable bottles at home, Enriko decided to create a service that alleviates this burden, saying, 'I thought of providing a service that makes life easier.' Through social media posts, he invites people to use the service, emphasizing convenience for those who may not have the time or inclination to take their bottles to recycling points themselves.
The service, which started in early February, has already successfully completed 11 orders, showcasing high customer satisfaction. The process is simple; customers simply provide their empty bottles in bags, and the collectors, who currently include Enriko and a friend, take these to the nearest recycling machine. The fee for this convenience is €1 plus 25% of the total deposit amount received from the bottles. This innovative entrepreneurial venture not only provides a practical solution to recycling but also empowers young people to earn their own money in the process.
Looking ahead, Enriko mentions that there are other young individuals interested in joining the initiative, targeting teens aged 14-20 who want to participate. This community-driven approach not only fosters teamwork among peers but also promotes environmental sustainability by encouraging proper recycling practices. Enriko's model not only assists those with excess bottles but also provides a great opportunity for local youth to engage in entrepreneurship and responsibility towards the environment.
