17-year-old boy sold over a hundred vodka bottles from his car trunk to teenagers in Rauma
A 17-year-old boy in Rauma sold over a hundred bottles of vodka, tobacco products, and e-cigarettes to underage buyers over a 14-month period.
In Rauma, Finland, a 17-year-old boy was found to have sold between 100 to 150 bottles of vodka primarily to underage buyers over the course of 14 months. His illicit activities included selling some cartons of cigarettes and over 100 e-cigarettes, as well as occasionally providing long drink beverages to children for a fee. The youngest buyers were reported to be as young as 14 years old, and he was even caught selling his goods on school grounds.
Throughout most of this operation, the young man was 17, but he reached adulthood in the later months of his illegal sales. He utilized WhatsApp to communicate with his customers and was known to drive a nice BMW car, which he used to transport his products either at the listed price or for an additional fee. Payments were accepted in cash or through MobilePay, indicating a level of sophistication in his sales methods and accessibility for young buyers.
The e-cigarettes sold by the boy reportedly contained a nicotine concentration of 50 milligrams per milliliter, which he ordered from China. This case highlights significant issues regarding underage substance sales and raises questions about enforcement of laws protecting minors from such transactions. This incident underscores the need for stronger regulations and awareness regarding underage drinking and smoking in Finland, particularly in light of the young age of many of the buyers involved.
