The educational program 'My Plastic and I' concluded with the participation of 1,700 students and 135 teachers from six islands in the Aegean Sea, supported by the Public Power Corporation (DEH). This initiative is part of DEH's ongoing commitment to sponsor environmental education programs targeting students and school communities in areas of operation. The program took place from March to December 2025, spanning 19 schools, including Naxos, Kythnos, Patmos, Leros, Samos, and Ikaria.

The key focus of this initiative was to educate students about the impacts of plastic pollution and to promote practices that reduce plastic usage in everyday life. Throughout the program, a series of 36 educational activities were conducted within classrooms, utilizing printed and audiovisual materials, encouraging student participation through interactive learning experiences. The collaboration between the Cyclades Preservation Fund (CPF) and OPUS facilitated the program’s execution and ensured resources were effectively deployed for maximum engagement.

Ultimately, the program underscores the importance of environmental awareness among the younger generation in Greece, aiming to instill sustainable habits and practices that will contribute to long-term ecological benefits. With the support of prominent organizations like DEH, such educational initiatives could pave the way for further environmental conservation efforts in the region, creating a more informed and proactive community regarding plastic use and waste management.
