New educational program from the University of Piraeus and MSC

The University of Piraeus, in collaboration with Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), has announced a new educational program focusing on the fundamentals of container shipping.

The Department of Maritime Studies at the University of Piraeus has partnered with Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) to launch a new training program titled "Fundamentals of Container Shipping." This program aims to provide comprehensive knowledge about the operations in the container shipping sector on a global scale. The first cycle of the program will commence on April 20, 2026, and will last for two months, including a total of 61 hours of synchronous and 147 hours of asynchronous training. The scientific supervisor of the program is Associate Professor Naoum Vasiliou-Christos.

The curriculum for the program covers various essential topics such as container logistics, supply chain management, the economics of the container shipping market, and the regulatory framework governing this sector. By addressing these subjects, the program seeks to equip participants with the necessary skills demanded in the evolving field of maritime transport. This initiative reflects the growing importance of specialized education in a key industry that facilitates global trade.
