DEI: 1,700 students from 6 islands in the educational program "My Plastic and I"
1,700 students and 135 teachers concluded the educational program "My Plastic and I" focusing on plastic pollution in the Dodecanese and northeastern Aegean, supported by DEI.
The educational program "My Plastic and I" successfully engaged 1,700 students and 135 teachers across six islands, aiming to raise awareness about plastic pollution. Implemented from March to December 2025 in collaboration with the Cyclades Preservation Fund (CPF) and OPUS, the program included 36 educational activities in total across 19 school units. Participants were educated on the impacts of plastic pollution and encouraged to adopt practices that reduce plastic usage in their daily lives.
DEI, the Greek Public Power Corporation, emphasized its commitment to supporting environmental education programs in communities where it operates. The expansion of this program into the Dodecanese reflects a proactive approach towards addressing environmental issues at a local level. The initiative not only provides students with crucial knowledge about sustainability but also fosters community engagement and supports local educators with resources and training.
As society grapples with the growing concerns of plastic waste and its environmental consequences, initiatives like "My Plastic and I" play a vital role in shaping the attitudes and behaviors of the younger generation. By empowering students with information and practical solutions, DEI aims to cultivate a more environmentally conscious community, contributing to broader efforts in combating plastic pollution in Greece and beyond.
