Customers at 'Aibė' stores will have to get used to new changes: here's what's changing
Aibė stores in Lithuania are introducing electronic price labels to improve pricing accuracy and customer service.
Aibė stores in Lithuania are transitioning to electronic price labels, which are anticipated to enhance pricing accuracy and enable quick communication regarding sales offers. This technology, as explained by Kęstutis Žilinskas, the innovation manager at Aljansas Aibė, not only reduces paper usage but also allows staff to dedicate more time to customer service instead of managing pricing updates. The new system is already operational in a Vilnius store and will soon replace paper prices in the Paupio store.
Additionally, other members of the trading alliance are planning to implement electronic price tags, with "Gulbelė," which manages 70 stores, having fully integrated this system in their Šakiai store. They aim to install the technology in 17 more locations by the end of February, particularly in the perishables sections. Moreover, another company holding 23 food stores and 6 household goods shops, "Svaita", intends to adopt these ESL solutions in high-traffic stores, enhancing the shopping experience for customers.
The shift to electronic price tags reflects a broader trend in retail towards digital solutions that streamline operations, reduce environmental impact, and improve customer engagement. By making the shopping experience more efficient and less reliant on paper, these companies are setting new standards in customer service and sustainability within Lithuania's retail sector.
