Greece and Egypt are experiencing a renewed momentum in their cultural cooperation with the recent official visit of Greek Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni to Cairo. The visit aims to strengthen cultural ties and expand collaborative efforts between the two nations, coinciding with the events of the "Cavafeia 2026" festival. This festival serves as a celebration of their historical relationship, particularly honoring the legacy of the renowned poet Constantine Cavafy, who has become a symbol of the shared cultural heritage of both countries.

During her meeting with Egypt's Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, Mendoni reaffirmed the positive state of the bilateral relations. Both ministers acknowledged their commitment to further enhancing cooperation in the realms of cultural heritage protection and promotion. The discussions also highlighted the outcomes of the Ministerial Meeting of the Forum of Ancient Civilizations held in Athens in December, of which Egypt will hold the presidency in 2027, focusing on leveraging this platform to deepen international cultural exchanges.
