Greek Culture Minister Lina Mendoni is currently on an official working visit to Cairo aimed at strengthening cultural relations and expanding cooperation between Greece and Egypt. This visit is notably in conjunction with the 2026 Cavafy Festival, which highlights the historical and cultural ties between the two nations while honoring the memory and works of renowned poet Constantine Cavafy. The festival serves as a platform for showcasing the shared heritage and the ongoing collaboration in cultural initiatives.

During her working meeting with Egypt's Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, both ministers reaffirmed the exceptional level of bilateral relations. They agreed on further enhancement of cooperation in the areas of cultural heritage protection and promotion. Fathy emphasized the significance of the outcomes from the Ministerial Summit of the Forum of Ancient Civilizations, held last December in Athens. He noted the importance of elevating and expanding the organization, which Egypt will preside over in 2027, indicating the forward-looking collaboration in cultural matters between the two countries.
