Family celebrates 20 years in A Banda do Amapá with tribute to matriarch: 'The Incredibles'
A family in Brazil commemorates 20 years of participating in A Banda do Amapá by honoring their matriarch during this year's carnival celebrations.
A Brazilian family marked a significant milestone by celebrating 20 years of participation in A Banda do Amapá, a local carnival tradition. This year, their celebrations were particularly poignant as they paid homage to their matriarch, who had passed away. Marilete Silva, one of the organizers, shared that the family has been creating a themed block for the carnival for two decades, traditionally honoring characters from literature. The return of the family group, after a hiatus following their matriarch's death, was filled with emotions and a sense of legacy.
The family block, named 'Os Incríveis' (The Incredibles), has grown significantly over the years, now comprising about 50 members. Marilete reflected on her mother's remarkable spirit, her passion for carnival festivities, and how the family intends to carry on her legacy. This year, their participation in the carnival held deep emotional significance as they remembered the past while bringing joy to the streets of Macapá.
A Banda do Amapá, in its 61st year, also featured giant puppets dressed as soccer players in tribute to the Brazilian national team, showcasing the festive spirit of the event. The celebrations not only highlight the family’s dedication but also reflect cultural pride and community involvement, connecting the past and present during one of Brazil's most loved festivities.
