Comlurb, the waste management company, reported collecting 65.7 tons of garbage following the first night of the Special Group samba school parades at the Marquês de Sapucaí. The collection consisted of 38.5 tons from within the parade area and 27.2 tons from the surrounding areas. Over three days of parades, the total waste collected reached 133 tons, indicating the significant impact of the events on urban cleanliness.

On Sunday, February 15th, the city-wide Carnival Operation 2026 removed an impressive 314.5 tons of waste across Rio de Janeiro. Since the beginning of the pre-carnival season, a cumulative total of 881.2 tons of garbage has been collected. The countless street blocks and community parties on Sunday generated 254 tons of waste, with the Bloco da Areia being the leading contributor with 12.8 tons of refuse. The extensive amount of waste reflects both the scale of the celebrations and the challenges of maintaining cleanliness amidst the festivities.

Furthermore, in the Estrada Intendente Magalhães area, where the Series Prata parades take place, 22 tons of waste were recorded on the first night, bringing the two-day total to 32 tons.
